what is a teen film?

Teen films is a film genre targeted at teenagers and young adults in which the plot is based upon the special interests of teenagers, such as coming of age, first love, rebellion, conflict with parents, crime, drug experimentation, gang culture, or alienation.
 

they are most commonly watched by teenagers due to to the subjects listed appealing to them. this tends to be the only udience to these films as most of those sobjects arent appealing to other audiences, however not only teenagers watch them.
 

within this genre there are many sub genres such as romance, fantasy, horror, sport, comedy drama and scy-fy. or in some cases even hybrids of those sub genres such as a "horror comedy".
 

there is also a pattern of settings within most teen films. the filming locations within homes tend to be bedrooms, living rooms, gardens and bathrooms. some of them tend to take place mostly in schools or collages, and 'hang out' locations tend to be parks, allyways, peoples houses or shopping centers. or as shown in the picture below from "feris buellers day off" a police station.
