Teen Movie
"MATERIAL GIRLS"
The targeted audience undoubtably would be females as its a story of two sisters. Two wealthy sisters, both heiresses to their family's cosmetics fortune, are given a wake-up call when a scandal and ensuring investigation strip them of their wealth. Hilary Duff and Haylie Duff are two actors of which may be inspiration or role models to certain females.
In reference to, females are the main consumers of cosmetic products within daily use. For example, women and their beauty products - its like an love affair. Daily women use 515 different chemicals within products in body whether its hair, face etc. This suggests a clear reason why its aimed at females as being the audience. As you could identify from the title, Material Girls, wouldn't be appealing for males to watch unless otherwise.

"BULLET BOY"
The targeted audience for this movie however, would be males as it has a different approach and storyline. This national movie, is about 18 year old Ricky (Ashley Walters), fresh out of prison, encountering violence through the toughest parts of east-london. Alongside is his 12 year old brother Chris. In which they are tested to the extreme on friendship, family and loyalty and come across betrayal many times.
The reason why the targetted audience will be males is as follows. The use of violence, action, hard to display images and weapons play a major role in why its targeted for males. In our society today, part of primary socialisation is the process in which a male child understands the norms and values thats expected by society. For example, they will have action figures, toy guns, toy cars etc. In comparison, the movie involves all things revealed. Also, the title "Bullet boy" instantly reveals who the majority of the audience will be and from what sex.Whereas 'Material Girls' has a different prospective. As a result 'Bullet Boy' is aimed at males. Also

"KIDULTHOOD"
On the other hand, Kidulthood has a different prospective to the previous movies I revealed. Kidulthood appeals to both genders. This is as well as having violence and crime scenes, it also reveals girl problems whether its teenage pregnancy, bullying and love affairs. This movie is about a group of 15 year olds growing up in west london.
In reference to, the use of weapons such as knives, baseball bat for violent use and guns reveal the masculinity of the movie as relating to the process of socialising through some males everyday life. Whereas, for females, bullying for being a 'virgin', teenage pregnancy and love affairs may relate to them. As a result, Kidulthood exposes both gender problems relating to things that may happen almost everyday in London. With the Uk with one of the highest teenage pregnancy rates at 7,123 in 2009.
